What else to get right
- Canada's 50 x 70 mm format is unlike almost anywhere else - a photo sized for another country will be refused.
- Face must measure 31 mm to 36 mm from chin to crown.
- Canada refuses photos altered with editing software, filters or AI tools, so background removal is disabled for this spec. Get the background right in camera.
- Must be taken by a commercial photographer or photo studio and professionally printed. Photos printed at home are not accepted.
- The photographer's name and address and the date the photo was taken must appear on the back of one photo.
- Taken no more than 6 months before you submit the application.
- Avoid white clothing, which blends into the background.
