Why this one
Measured, not eyeballed
Most tools give you a frame and let you guess. We detect the chin, crown and eye line, then solve the crop so the head fills exactly the fraction the spec calls for.
Checked before you print
Resolution, head height, eye line, sharpness, background evenness and exposure are all checked, with warnings you can act on before you spend money on prints.
Your photo never leaves
There is no upload. Every step - detection, cropping, background removal - runs on your own device, so there is nothing on a server to leak or delete.
Questions
- Does my photo get uploaded anywhere?
- No. All processing happens inside your browser on your own device. Your photo is never sent to a server, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
- Is it really free?
- Yes, with no account, no watermark and no limit on how many photos you make. If it saved you a trip, there is a donation link - that is the whole business model.
- Will my photo actually be accepted?
- We size the photo to the published specification and warn you about the things that commonly cause rejections. Acceptance is always at the discretion of the issuing authority, and requirements about expression, glasses, head coverings and background are your responsibility to meet.
- Why does my printed photo come out the wrong size?
- Usually because the print dialog scaled it. Print at 100% or 'actual size' rather than 'fit to page'. Our files carry the correct DPI metadata, so any print software that respects it will produce the right physical size.
- What makes a good source photo?
- Even, indirect light on your face, a plain light-coloured wall about half a metre behind you, camera at eye level, neutral expression, both ears and the full head in frame. Avoid harsh overhead light, which casts shadows under the eyes.
