About Passport Photo Studio

A passport photo is a surprisingly exacting piece of work. The print has to be the right size to a fraction of a millimetre, your head has to occupy a specific fraction of the frame, and your eyes have to sit within a narrow band. Get any of it wrong and an automated checker rejects the application - often weeks later.

Photo counters charge for this and still get it wrong. Most free online tools hand you a rectangle and ask you to line your face up by eye, which is exactly the part that is hard to do accurately.

How it works

We detect the landmarks of your face, measure the distance from chin to crown, and solve for the crop that puts the head height and eye line inside the official range for the document you picked. Then we check the result - resolution, sharpness, background evenness, exposure - and tell you about anything likely to cause a rejection before you print.

Every specification in the size directory cites the official government page it came from, so you can verify the numbers yourself rather than taking our word for them.

Privacy

There is no upload. Face detection, cropping and background removal all run as code inside your browser, on your device. Your photo never travels across the network, which means there is no server copy to breach, subpoena, or forget to delete. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Cost

Free, with no account, no watermark, and no cap on how many photos you make. There is a donation link for anyone who wants to chip in, and that is the entire business model.

The disclaimer that matters

We are not affiliated with any government or issuing authority. Photo requirements change without much notice, and acceptance is always at the discretion of the authority processing your application. Rules about expression, glasses, head coverings, uniforms and background are yours to meet - we can size and check the photo, but we cannot promise it will be accepted.
